No.1 Soccer Camps, National Goalkeeper Director

With over 25 years of playing and coaching experience, Mike is one of the most respected GK coaches in the country, having played and coached at all levels of the game. At age 16, he was selected to travel to a US Select Team that traveled to Brazil to train for 2 months and play international friendlies. Upon graduation from High School, Mike chose Division I Mercer University where he continued his level of excellence. As a 4-year starter Mike was a 2-time All-Conference GK and, as Captain his Senior year, he led the team to their first ever Conference Championship, going undefeated.  Mike then began a Professional career that included being a first round draft pick, two Championships, an All-Star selection, and a tournament MVP selection. An injury, unfortunately forced him into early retirement.

Since 1993, Mike has been involved with Soccer Hall of Fame inductee, Joe Machnik’s No.1 Soccer Camps, one of the most respected camps in the country.  As a Regional Director, Mike works with players across the country on both sides of the ball and is the National GK Director.  He has Division I & II College Coaching experience, 15 years of High School coaching experience with 3 State Championships, and over 25 years of Club experience. He is currently Director of Goalkeeping for Space Coast United Soccer Club.

In 2001, Mike was brought in by NY/NJ Metrostars (now NY Red Bulls) former Head Coach Octavio Zambrano to train the GK’s for MLS pre-season while they were in Florida, where he trained Men’s National Team GK Tim Howard.  Mike has worked extensively with Women’s National Team and Orlando Pride GK Ashlyn Harris as well.

“In the 40+ years of No.1 Goalkeeper Camps, there have been legendary staff coaches such as Frans Hoek, Richard But, Zoltan Toth, Paul Coffee, Dave Vanole, Kevin Hartman, Jon Busch which have graced our ranks and enriched our campers. Yet, none of these have provided the consistent quality of instruction over an extended period as Mike Potier.

Mike Potier brings a level of enthusiasm with a charismatic personality which motivates our campers to play to their strengths and minimize their weaknesses. He remains at the top of his game through diligent research in the latest training techniques while always embracing the fundamentals.

Mike has a legion of followers throughout the country that are indebted to him for his dedication to their development as goalkeepers in their own right. Mike Potier's record of service to No.1 Goalkeeper Camps is unblemished and his value to our program in positive terms is unquantifiable.”
